After beeing to the codhole, nudibranchs got me hooked to diving. Instead of flying to Alice Springs and having a look at the Ayers rock I stayed in Cairns and went on two daytrips.
The first daytrip Annabel joined me, cause I persuaded her to do an introductory dive. I showed how to snorkle in Airlie beach, got her hooked to diving with that introductory dive in Cairns and she finished her advanced course already.

Fishes are quite common on coral reefs as are big clams ( on the lower right corner on the 2nd picture ). Claire ( closer to the camera ) and another name I forgot were my diving buddies on the first dive that day.

A camouflaged sea cucumber ( 25 cm ).

This might be an almost opaque nudibranch - but I'm not sure. Any hints welcome.

A litte grouper was quite curious what I was about to do with it's coral.

Watch out for the small things. To give you a feeling on how big those nudibranches are - the next four shots are taken on the same nudibranch. Did you see it on the first picture ? I was quite lucky to find that many nudibranchs.

A pice of coral and something that might be nudibranch or a coral worm ?

A distant turtle and a close sea star.

More nudibranchs - I told you, I got hooked to nudibranchs :v) Sorry for the blurry pictures but as I don't touch anything under water I float around all the time. Instead of holding on to something and braking it, I get blurry pictures.

The second dive that day I joined Annabel on her 2nd introductory dive. As you see the big smile on her face it seems her first dive got her hooked.

Below the surface Jules came along and showed us annas sea cucumber.

Jules did take some pictures:

as did I. Here you clearly sea the effect of filters.

As I started fotography that vacation, one tends to experiment. Annabel against the sun:

Above the surface I got a monster hug from Annabel.

The next day I went on another divetrip. A white tipped reef shark and blue spotted ray.

I would have never seen the orang utang crab on the following picture if Jules hadn't shown it to me.

Of course - a nudibranch or flatworm.

A small sea star and my fin to show that it's small.

Feather stars and a small wreck. And the last diving picture so far - a small grouper.
